Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +37 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and sustain scalable architectures for Snowflake-based data warehouses, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and future extensibility.

• Take ownership of data architecture and technical design choices, including data models, integration patterns, and optimization strategies.

• Convert raw source data from various internal and external systems into analytics-ready data models by following industry best practices.

• Lead and participate in warehouse development utilizing dimensional modeling techniques, such as star schemas and slowly changing dimensions.

• Create and oversee data pipelines using Snowflake functionalities like Snowpipe, tasks, stored procedures, and performance optimization methods.

• Oversee and track data integrations with internal systems through APIs, application calls, or custom code to guarantee data accuracy and reliability.

• Implement auditing, change tracking, error handling, and monitoring across extensive datasets to uphold high standards of data quality.

• Detect and rectify data quality issues, and establish controls to differentiate between valid and invalid data utilized in decision-making.

• Utilize Python and application knowledge to interact with and extract data from various systems.

• Provide technical guidance by coaching and mentoring junior and mid-level data engineers, including conducting code reviews, offering design feedback, and sharing best practices.

• Contribute to and help establish data engineering standards, best practices, and documentation within the team.

• Collaborate across teams to address daily operational data needs while continuously enhancing data pipelines and processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of extensive hands-on experience with Snowflake, encompassing data modeling, performance tuning, tasks, stored procedures, and ingestion patterns.

• More than 7 years of advanced hands-on experience in SQL, with significant expertise in designing and optimizing queries within Snowflake.

• Proficient in Python and experienced in applying Python within data engineering or integration workflows.

• Experience in working with APIs and application-based data integrations.

• Strong grasp of data engineering principles, data warehousing concepts, and cloud-based architectures.

• Proven experience in designing and implementing ETL/ELT processes at scale.

• Familiarity with cloud environments and data ecosystems (Snowflake, AWS S3, Azure, etc.), with Snowflake as the primary platform.

• Experience with data migration and integration tools such as Stitch, Workato, Kafka, and API-based ingestion.

• Background in working with Salesforce data, including reporting and integration requirements.

• Experience with financial data and an understanding of data governance considerations.

• Solid comprehension of data architecture and modeling methodologies, including star schema, snowflake schema, and Type 2 dimensions.

• Ability to articulate complex data concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

• Team-oriented attitude with the capability to work independently and take initiative without significant oversight.

• Strong documentation skills and a commitment to maintaining clear and precise technical artifacts.

• Eagerness and ability to mentor others, as well as a willingness to learn and adopt new tools and methods.
