Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• You will develop comprehensive automation of data pipelines to enhance the efficiency and self-service capabilities of data ingestion, transformation, and distribution for our users.

• You will investigate and adopt the latest AWS and big data technologies to discover hidden use cases, enable new functionalities, and create new integrations for our SIXT Data shop product.

• You will collaborate with Data Engineers, BI Analysts, and Data Scientists to identify optimal solutions for various analytical use cases, including Dashboarding, ad hoc Analytics, Data-as-a-product, and Machine Learning.

• You will contribute to the vision and execution of the Data Platform by bringing your experience, innovative ideas, and inquisitive nature.

• You will demonstrate strong work ethics and integrity while handling sensitive data, ensuring the protection of our end customers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field is preferred.

• You possess experience with integrated Data Lake and Data Warehouse architectures and automation processes from data sources to analytical dashboards using ELT.

• You are proficient in analytical cloud data warehouses (Redshift, Snowflake) and know how to create transformed data models (dbt) and automate interdependent jobs (Apache Airflow).

• You have experience working with AWS services via CLI and Console (S3, EC2, EMR, Lambda, Kinesis, IAM...) and are familiar with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).

• You apply engineering best practices throughout the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, code reviews, source management (GitHub), deployment processes (Jenkins), testing, and operations. Additionally, you have a solid understanding of data management fundamentals, distributed systems, and data storage/compute principles.

• Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential.
