Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Design and uphold efficient data pipeline architecture.

• Compile extensive and intricate data sets that fulfill both functional and non-functional business needs.

• Recognize, devise, and execute internal process enhancements: automating manual tasks, refining data delivery, re-engineering infrastructure for improved scalability, etc.

• Establish the necessary infrastructure for optimal data extraction, transformation, and loading from a diverse array of data sources utilizing SQL and Azure 'big data' technologies.

• Develop analytical tools that leverage the data pipeline to deliver actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational effectiveness, and other critical business performance indicators.

• Collaborate with stakeholders, including Executive, Product, Data, and Design teams, to resolve data-related technical challenges and support their data infrastructure requirements.

• Strong communication skills are essential.

• Ensure our data remains secure and segregated across national borders through multiple data centers and Azure regions.

• Create data tools for analytics and data science team members that aid in enhancing our product into an innovative industry leader.

• Partner with data and analytics specialists to pursue increased functionality within our data systems.

• Proven experience conducting root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to address specific business inquiries and uncover improvement opportunities.

• Strong analytical capabilities related to working with unstructured datasets.

• Establish processes that support data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.

• A successful track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disparate datasets.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in Data Engineering.

• In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Azure technology stack.

• Proven experience in building and optimizing 'big data' pipelines, architectures, and data sets.

• Proficient in managing Extract, Load, and Transform (ELT) processes.

• Strong understanding of Data Modeling, Data Integration, and Ingestion.

• Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases, including query authoring (SQL) and familiarity with various database systems.

• Experience with big data tools such as ADLS, Databricks, ADF, Synapse, and other Azure data services.

• Familiarity with data pipeline and workflow management tools like SSIS and ADF.

• Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable 'big data' data stores.

• Strong project management and organizational capabilities.

• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
