Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain efficient ELT/ETL pipelines for ingesting clinical, claims, and operational data.

• Construct and enhance data models within cloud-based data warehouses to facilitate analytics, reporting, and machine learning workflows.

• Execute and oversee orchestration frameworks to guarantee reliable, monitored, and observable data workflows.

• Architect and provision cloud data infrastructure on GCP utilizing infrastructure-as-code tools.

• Maximize cloud resource utilization for cost efficiency while maintaining performance and reliability SLAs.

• Ensure compliance of all data systems with HIPAA, HITECH, and relevant state privacy regulations.

• Collaborate with clinical and compliance teams to uphold data governance standards.

• Establish data quality frameworks and validation rules for anomaly detection.

• Partner with data scientists, analysts, and ML engineers to design datasets and develop feature stores.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in data engineering, including a minimum of 2 years in cloud-native environments.

• Advanced skills in Python and SQL for developing data pipelines and transformation logic.

• Practical experience with modern data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.

• Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) or similar transformation frameworks.

• Proven knowledge of healthcare data standards, including HL7 FHIR, and a solid understanding of HIPAA compliance requirements.

• Extensive experience with workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.

• Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Strong grasp of data modeling principles, including dimensional modeling and data vault methodologies.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
