Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Reporting to the Data Platform Lead, you will take on the role of a hands-on senior engineer tasked with developing and sustaining ApprovalMax's enterprise data platform.

• Take ownership of the design and implementation of production-grade data pipelines, ensuring engineering excellence throughout the data stack while serving as a technical mentor to the broader analytics team.

• Architect, construct, and oversee scalable ELT pipelines, ingestion methods, and transformation layers.

• Develop production-grade Python code for orchestration, custom ingestion, and data transformation processes.

• Proactively investigate and address pipeline failures within established SLAs; lead root-cause analysis and implement long-lasting solutions.

• Establish and uphold data quality frameworks across the platform, ensuring that critical data assets have well-defined quality contracts.

• Collaborate with Product Engineering, RevOps, and Finance teams to define and sustain data contracts.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in data engineering, specifically in building and managing production data platforms within a SaaS or B2B product landscape.

• Proven experience leveraging AI coding agents as a fundamental aspect of your development workflow.

• Strong hands-on proficiency with cloud-native data platforms, with a preference for Azure.

• Expert knowledge of the modern data stack, including dbt, SQL, dimensional and source-aligned data modeling, semantic layers, and data quality frameworks.

• Strong Python programming skills along with practical experience in workflow orchestration.

• Experience in defining and utilizing data contracts in partnership with Product and Engineering teams.

• A history of enhancing engineering maturity within data functions.

• Comfortable being on-call for the data platform and managing incidents from start to finish.

• Exceptional written communication skills.
