Senior Data Center Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.

📋 Description

• Engage in a fast-paced operations environment at Salesforce, the largest SaaS platform globally, focusing on the delivery and management of scalable and innovative solutions for our modular compute infrastructure while proactively safeguarding our customers' data.

• Oversee all daily operations related to the Data Center installation of racks/enclosures and the preparation of equipment for installation.

• Revise the cable management system as modifications are made to the data center's cable infrastructure.

• Update the asset management system as equipment is added or removed from the data center.

• Define tasks for each project and collaborate with all Tech and Prod teams to adhere to project timelines, while also providing updates to team members and management regarding the completion of all tasks.

• Supply all necessary information to assist with Data Center capacity planning concerning space and power requirements.

• Manage vendor resources to accomplish tasks as outlined in Statements of Work (SOWs).

• Foster relationships with providers to ensure the success of daily operations.

• Investigate advancements in Data Center infrastructure equipment and recommend changes as necessary.

• Perform all audits as mandated by company policies.

• Coordinate the onsite delivery and shipping of all equipment.

• Participate in a weekly on-call rotation shared among the Las Vegas Engineering team.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of experience managing hardware assets in Data Centers.

• A project management mindset with the capability to handle tasks within tight deadlines.

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.

• Comprehensive experience in the installation of server and network equipment, including rack and stack procedures.

• Strong day-to-day experience in large, fast-paced heterogeneous environments, critical production data centers, and co-location settings.

• Proven experience working with teams of onsite infrastructure build-out engineers and vendors.

• Familiarity with a wide range of different vendor hardware such as servers, storage, and networking equipment.

• Knowledge of the processes for pulling, terminating, and testing copper and fiber network cabling.

• Experience in conducting inventories of all cables, power cords, and other infrastructure items.

• Proven ability to contribute to detailed project plans for programs involving multifaceted teams and complex requirements.

• Capability to multitask and manage several projects simultaneously.

• Demonstrated ability to coordinate issue resolution across departmental teams and global teams across multiple time zones.

• Coordination of vendors, scheduling RMAs, and on-site repairs as necessary.

• Experience with Asset Management systems.

• Solid understanding of disaster recovery and business continuity methodologies.

• Strong grasp of methodologies, processes, and metrics, including familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.

• A relevant technical degree is required.
