This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Create and sustain enterprise data architecture to facilitate EHRM reporting platforms, data integration pipelines, and analytical tools.
• Design and uphold logical and physical data models, ensuring they are scalable, consistent, and aligned with VHA standards.
• Establish and implement data governance practices that encompass metadata management, data lineage, and master data management strategies.
• Work collaboratively with data scientists, developers, and analysts to guarantee consistent data availability, quality, and structure for analytics and decision-making.
• Develop and lead data integration frameworks, including APIs, ETL processes, and interoperability standards across various systems (e.g., clinical, operational, performance).
• Collaborate with technical and functional stakeholders to convert business requirements into effective data design strategies.
• Define and manage data quality and integrity frameworks, which include data validation rules and automated checks throughout the data lifecycle.
• Engage in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and Agile ceremonies to prioritize and implement architectural improvements.
• Assess and recommend new technologies, platforms, or methodologies that improve data architecture and overall performance.
• A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a similar technical field.
• Over 10 years of relevant experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise data systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in data modeling, enterprise data warehousing, and cloud-based data infrastructure (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
• In-depth understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data lineage frameworks.
• Proficient in database technologies (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and contemporary data platforms.
• Proven experience in designing data architecture with a focus on compute performance, including the capability to manage and optimize compute resources and operationalize scalable data processing solutions.
• Familiarity with designing or supporting business intelligence environments.
• Ability to articulate complex technical solutions to a diverse audience, including executive and non-technical stakeholders.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Office tools and collaboration platforms.
• Experience working in fast-paced environments that demand high attention to detail.
• Capacity to obtain and maintain public trust clearance.
