Senior Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design and advancement of the data platform architecture, setting patterns and standards for the team to utilize.

• Develop and manage production-grade data pipelines that reliably ingest and transform high-variance, real-world clinical data at scale.

• Aim for automation from the outset: create pipelines that identify issues, recover smoothly, and highlight problems without needing manual intervention.

• Participate in quarterly data product launches, collaborating closely with product, clinical, and customer success teams to fulfill commitments.

• Create data quality tests that adapt to the changing needs of our downstream consumers.

• Mentor and uplift fellow data engineers through code reviews, architectural decisions, and adherence to shared standards.

• Proactively utilize and promote AI tools that enhance the team's development speed and code quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in data engineering, with a background at a technical lead level.

• Hands-on experience with Snowflake and dbt as key data platform tools.

• Proficient in Python for constructing and maintaining data pipelines.

• Experienced in building robust pipelines from irregular, high-variance data sources and understands the necessities for maintaining them without constant oversight.

• Possesses a systems-thinking mindset: designs for observability, failure recovery, and automation.

• Capable of engaging meaningfully with the business and domain context surrounding the data, beyond just the engineering aspect.

• Actively employs AI tools in their work and is eager to explore their application within the pipeline, especially for data quality monitoring and anomaly detection at scale.

• Communicates effectively and collaborates well with engineering, product, and clinical stakeholders.
