This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Collaborate with members of the Oncology Data Curation team and cross-functional partners to create data structures in both JSON and relational formats that capture the intricacies of oncology testing data.
• Interpret the results of oncology diagnostic tests to accurately map them into enterprise data models.
• Develop mappings between clinical test outcomes and enterprise data warehouse structures to facilitate large-scale data integration.
• Implement and uphold clinical data standards, including ICD-O-3, FHIR, mCODE, LOINC, ICD-10, UMLS, SNOMED, and other relevant standards as necessary.
• Standardize disease and biomarker data utilizing controlled biomedical vocabularies and classifications.
• Expand and maintain biomedical ontologies to support the evolving landscape of oncology knowledge.
• Utilize natural language processing techniques to extract structured information from clinical test results.
• Curate, analyze, harmonize, and oversee large oncology datasets while ensuring adherence to high data quality standards.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and engage in the complete development lifecycle, from research and prototyping to production deployment.
• Contribute to data quality, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives across oncology data platforms.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Biostatistics with 5 or more years of experience; or a Master’s degree with 3 or more years of experience.
• At least 1 year of demonstrated experience in bioinformatics, information integration, or knowledge modeling.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience working with and processing next-generation sequencing (NGS) datasets and databases.
• At least 1 year of experience utilizing general bioinformatics resources such as NCBI Entrez Gene, PubMed, OMIM, or ClinVar.
• Familiarity with clinical data standards like HL7 and FHIR.
• A solid understanding of cancer biology and oncology therapies.
• Experience in curating biomedical data and integrating terminologies for ontology development.
• Experience with relational databases and platforms such as Databricks or SAP HANA.
• Proficiency in Python or Tcl scripting and SQL query development.
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and version control systems (Git).
