Senior Consultant – Retrofit Planning, Strategy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead multiple workstream projects from inception to completion: establish methodology, set quality assurance standards, supervise analysis, and drive recommendations that are ready for decision-making.

• Manage client relationships: clarify project scope, handle changes, present to executives and program owners, and ensure client satisfaction while fostering follow-on opportunities.

• Design and orchestrate stakeholder engagements (such as focus groups, workshops, and technical roundtables) that align competing priorities into actionable strategies.

• Create impactful deliverables: executive summaries, decision memos, technical appendices, implementation roadmaps, and presentations ready for conferences.

• Drive business development efforts: develop winning themes, lead proposal strategies, determine pricing for the level of effort, and coordinate team dynamics; mentor others in crafting successful bids.

• Provide mentorship and quality assurance: review deliverables, coach intermediate and analyst staff, and institutionalize templates and best practices.

• Represent FRESCo through thought leadership, panel discussions, and client briefings.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in building retrofit planning/strategy and/or program/policy consulting.

• Relevant educational background (engineering, planning, public policy, economics, building science, or a related field).

• Strategic communicator: skilled in framing trade-offs, clarifying decisions, and aligning technical, financial, and policy elements.

• Advanced project leadership skills: budgeting, risk management, change control, coordination of multiple vendors, and executive-level reporting.

• Extensive knowledge of decarbonization/retrofit technologies, implementation challenges, incentive structures, and regulatory/policy mechanisms, or the ability to quickly learn and master content.

• Strong analytical capabilities: experienced in directing modeling/analysis, evaluating assumptions, and questioning results; proficient in Excel and comfortable using AI tools to enhance productivity.

• Demonstrated proposal leadership with quantifiable RFP successes in the public, utility, and private sectors.
