Senior Consultant – Cybersecurity

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• This role is entirely remote and can be based anywhere within the continental U.S.

• Our consultants are proficient technical and consultative experts who are expected to excel in both technical and interpersonal skills.

• A Consultant should be a confirmed self-starter with the capability to solve problems, communicate effectively, engage in diverse project teams from a technical viewpoint, and interact successfully with clients, vendor partners, and colleagues.

• Build and sustain productive and respectful relationships with the delivery team, practice management, and client management team.

• You will play an active role in enhancing operational efficiency for projects and internal initiatives.

• Deliver engagements in a timely manner and collaborate closely with Practice Directors to promote training and education, career progression, performance development, and teamwork across the group.

• In alignment with Optiv’s pledge to quality, you will ensure that work meets the highest quality standards set by Optiv, by reviewing contributions from other team members.

• Capable of independently delivering or serving as the "point" for complex projects.

• Acts as a technical escalation resource to support fellow consultants.

• Take the lead in capacity planning and hardware specification recommendation activities.

• Spearhead all Technology deployment tasks, connector configuration, custom rule development, workflow configuration and development, and integration with third-party systems.

• Lead efforts in Business Continuity, Cyber Resilience, and Disaster Recovery.

• Oversee User Acceptance Testing and bug-related engineering efforts.

• Design, implement, and provide education on specific technology build processes, code migration, and best practices for source control usage.

• Facilitate knowledge transfer and post-production support activities as necessary.

• Be an effective communicator within the team.

• Stay updated on professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational workshops, reviewing industry publications, establishing personal networks, and engaging with professional associations like ISSA.

• Achieve and maintain top-tier vendor certifications.

• Complete administrative project tasks such as time and expense reporting, status updates, and project completion documentation.

• Contribute to Optiv communities focused on solution development.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree along with approximately 5-7 years of relevant work experience.

• Around 4-7 years of experience in technical architecture.

• Strong grasp of Business Continuity, cyber resilience, and Disaster Recovery principles and practices.

• Preferred experience in one or more of the following Security Architecture and/or Enterprise Architectural Frameworks (e.g., SABSA, TOGAF, O-ESA).

• Knowledge of general security concepts and methodologies, including vulnerability assessments, data classification, privacy assessments, incident response, security policy formulation, enterprise security strategies, architectures, and governance.

• Strong comprehension of networking (TCP/IP, OSI model), operating system basics (Windows, UNIX, mainframe), security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, etc.), and application programming/scripting languages (C, Java, Perl, Shell).

• In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance issues that impact clients regarding privacy and data protection, such as OSFI, PCI DSS, GLBA, Basel II, EU Data Protection Directive, International Cross Border, and U.S. State Data Privacy Laws.

• Working knowledge of operating systems, virtual machine environments, mainframe security solutions, and relational database management systems.

• Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office.

• Ability to forge relationships and influence other functional areas.

• Well-honed negotiation skills.

• Capability to build consensus.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Willingness to travel to meet client requirements.

• A valid driver’s license in the U.S.

• The ideal candidate must possess relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CBCP, and/or CISA.
