Senior Computer Vision Engineer, Real-Time 3D Tracking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the on-device object tracking system from architecture to production.

• Design and develop real-time, model-based 6DoF pose estimation and continuous tracking for textureless steel structures, utilizing CAD models as reference points.

• Combine object tracking with platform world tracking (visual-inertial odometry), depth, and IMU data; manage tracking-loss detection, drift management, and recovery.

• Enhance native C++ vision pipelines for iOS and Apple silicon, focusing on rendering, CPU/GPU budgets, and maintaining sustained frame rates on iPad or headset hardware.

• Expand tracking capabilities to large structures, addressing partial visibility, multi-region strategies, and CAD mesh preprocessing from IFC/STEP-type exports.

• Integrate native modules with Unity using a plugin bridge, collaborating with our Unity team from prototype to release.

• Establish tracking quality metrics and benchmark performance against real shop-floor conditions, including occlusion, mixed lighting, and cluttered scenes with visually similar materials.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in computer vision or a related field, with an emphasis on real-time systems.

• Successfully launched at least one real-time computer vision feature on a mobile platform (iOS or Android).

• Proficient in modern C++; familiarity with Python is a plus.

• Strong understanding of 3D geometry, including camera models, calibration, projective geometry, and linear algebra.

• Practical knowledge of nonlinear least-squares optimization (Gauss–Newton / Levenberg–Marquardt) and pose parameterization on SE(3).

• Hands-on experience with pose estimation and object tracking algorithms.

• Experience in integrating native C++ libraries with Unity or similar native-mobile plugin work.

• Strong skills in profiling and optimization on ARM, including frame budgets and tools like Instruments or equivalents.
