Senior Coding Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska.

📋 Description

• Evaluate documentation for professional charges related to ancillary services, evaluation and management (E/M), bedside/clinical procedures, as well as surgical and anesthesia services.

• Assess the precision of diagnosis and procedure codes during charge reviews, edits, errors, and follow-ups within work queues and folders using computer-aided coding software.

• Amend diagnosis and procedure codes as needed to guarantee accurate clinical data and reimbursement for the organization.

• Employ encoder and/or computer-aided coding software to examine coding and coding edits, promoting thorough and compliant coding practices.

• Address work queues in the electronic health record and/or computer-aided system to proactively resolve CCI, OCE, LCD, and NCD edits, thereby enhancing effective and efficient Revenue Cycle processes.

• Collaborate with ambulatory sectors of the organization, including providers, clinic managers, and administrators, to promote provider education and ensure revenue integrity.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• Completion of an accredited coding certificate program with current certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder-Apprentice (CPC-A), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), or completion of an AHIMA accredited Health Information Management (HIM) program with current credentials as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is required.

• A minimum of two years of post-secondary education with coursework in business, medical assistant, or nursing assistant programs, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in coding (one year of education equals one year of experience) is required.
