Senior Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Your primary responsibility will be to design, construct, and manage the cloud infrastructure and networking foundations that support n8n Cloud, allowing us to scale securely and reliably across various regions and clients.

• Design, construct, and maintain cloud infrastructure on Azure with an emphasis on reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.

• Develop infrastructure solutions from scratch rather than merely operating pre-existing tools or templates.

• Facilitate the advancement of our platform architecture as n8n Cloud grows to accommodate millions of users.

• Create and enhance infrastructure patterns for multi-region deployments, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.

• Utilize Kubernetes and managed Kubernetes services such as AKS to run and scale cloud-native workloads.

• Identify and address infrastructure bottlenecks proactively to prevent any adverse effects on customers or internal teams.

• Enhance the security, resilience, and fortification of our cloud infrastructure and deployment practices.

• Implement robust infrastructure architecture principles to develop systems that are secure, maintainable, and scalable.

• Participate in networking-related platform decisions, including Kubernetes networking, tunneling, routing, and connectivity patterns.

• Leverage Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices to create repeatable, reliable, and well-governed infrastructure.

• Collaborate with Cloud Platform engineers, product engineers, and other technical teams on cross-functional infrastructure initiatives.

• Adopt a hands-on, practical approach to architectural decision-making, technical trade-offs, and platform development.

• Participate in on-call rotation, contributing to the maintenance and performance of our systems.

• Manage and advance KTLO (keep-the-lights-on) tasks: address reliability, performance bottlenecks, and critical bug fixes.

⛳️ Requirements

• ☁️ Cloud infrastructure experience: You possess hands-on experience in managing and deploying infrastructure on Azure, or alternatively on GCP or AWS.

• 🏗️ Infrastructure design: You have crafted infrastructure solutions from the ground up, rather than simply operating systems or tools created by others.

• 🧱 Infrastructure as Code: You are proficient in utilizing Terraform and IaC practices to establish scalable, repeatable cloud infrastructure.

• ☸️ Kubernetes: You have extensive experience with Kubernetes and managed services such as AKS, GKE, or EKS.

• 🔐 Security-first mindset: You understand how to create secure, hardened systems by applying cloud and infrastructure best practices.

• 📈 Scale experience: You have participated in larger-scale deployments and grasp the operational challenges associated with growth.

• 🧭 Architectural judgement: You can make well-informed infrastructure design choices and articulate the trade-offs involved.

• 🌱 Growth mindset: You are inquisitive, resourceful, and comfortable finding solutions when immediate answers are not available.
