This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee data analysis and updates for long-term research initiatives that monitor the effects of and threats to the clean energy economy.
• Collaborate with the Research Deputy Managing Director, the Accountability Research Director, and the Clean Energy campaign to execute research-driven projects in this area.
• Prepare reports, fact sheets, and various research and communication materials related to clean energy.
• Monitor and report on business developments within the clean energy sector, including financial disclosures and earnings calls.
• Create actionable research that can be utilized in communication materials, media pitches, and campaign strategies to hold elected and government officials accountable for hindering clean energy investments.
• Produce both paid and organic media ad backups under tight deadlines, perform fact-checks, and approve clean energy content for outgoing materials.
• Partner with the Research Deputy Managing Director and the Communications team to present research findings to media outlets.
• Address general research requirements, such as developing research backgrounders and rapid response tasks. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed and as capacity allows.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in political research, which may include work for a campaign or advocacy organization.
• Relevant experience may encompass, but is not limited to: Engaging with energy policy or corporate accountability issues within a political, advocacy, or policymaking context OR Serving as an analyst or journalist reporting on the clean energy sector.
• Fundamental understanding of clean energy technologies, as well as financial statements and filings from publicly-traded corporations.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong organizational skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing competing priorities with minimal supervision.
• Keen news judgment and a solid grasp of the political media landscape.
• Proficient in research tools, including LexisNexis, public records, and campaign finance filings.
• Strong skills in Google Workspace, Sheets or Excel, and Microsoft Word.
• Familiarity with Airtable is a plus.
• A passion for climate justice is an added advantage!
