Senior Certified Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.

📋 Description

• Evaluate intricate clinical and demographic data to allocate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT/HCPCS codes for outpatient, surgical, and inpatient encounters.

• Facilitate precise DRG assignment while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

• Conduct coding for outpatient, surgical, and inpatient services, including ICD-10-PCS and CPT procedure coding.

• Assign and verify MS-DRGs and/or APCs, ensuring accurate capture of severity of illness and risk of mortality.

• Analyze complex documentation, execute queries, and address discrepancies along with intricate coding edits.

• Oversee multiple work queues while upholding coding accuracy and productivity.

• Offer mentorship and support to coding personnel.

• Collaborate with CDI and healthcare providers to ensure alignment of documentation and coding.

• Convey coding determinations and documentation requirements to relevant stakeholders.

• Recognize opportunities for workflow enhancements to boost coding accuracy and productivity.

• Ensure that coding results facilitate reimbursement, reporting, and compliance.

• Implement updated coding practices to enhance consistency and performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of coding experience.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

• One of the following certifications: AHIMA-RHIA, AHIMA-RHIT, AHIMA-CCS, AAPC-CPC, AAPC-CIC, or AAPC-COC.

• Experience in applying ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT/HCPCS coding for outpatient, surgical, and inpatient encounters.

• Understanding of coding guidelines and DRG and/or APC logic.

• Capability to review complex documentation and resolve both routine and advanced coding edits.

• Proficient in managing multiple work queues effectively.

• Competence to independently interpret clinical documentation to support coding accuracy and consistency.
