This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• MES Customization & Development: Create and implement customizations and extensions for Opcenter across the data model, Functional Blocks, Signal Rules, Business Process Flows, Task Types, and model-driven UI, adhering to the platform’s adaptable-solution principles (maintaining a clean core while isolating customer-specific extensions).
• Develop user-centric experiences in Mendix (microflows, nanoflows, custom widgets, mashups) and implement more complex server-side logic using C# / .NET when low-code is insufficient.
• Convert manufacturing and MRO requirements into robust, upgrade-safe configurations and code that withstands Opcenter version upgrades.
• Teamcenter ↔ Opcenter Integration: Manage the PLM–MES integration layer between Teamcenter and Opcenter — facilitating the flow of mBOM, BOP, and work-instruction content into actionable work orders. Design change-driven, incremental synchronization to ensure that released engineering changes (ECO/ECN) are incorporated into affected work orders as minimal deltas, respecting effectivity, rather than requiring complete structure re-publishes.
• Design for optimal network traffic and latency using event subscriptions / publish-subscribe patterns, message buffering and guaranteed delivery, REST/OData interfaces, and selective payloads — minimizing chatty polling and redundant transfers across locations.
• Define the integration contract and potential failure modes: idempotency, replay, ordering, conflict resolution, and observability to ensure issues are identified before they impact the production floor.
• Technical Leadership, Mentoring & Code Review: Guide and mentor the India development team — enhancing skills in Opcenter, Mendix, and .NET through collaboration, design guidance, and structured feedback.
• Oversee code reviews for all MES customizations: uphold standards for quality, maintainability, security, upgrade-safety, and performance.
• Establish and uphold development standards — including coding conventions, branching strategy, definition of done, and reusable patterns/shared components.
• CI/CD, DevOps & Release Management: Manage the CI/CD pipeline for MES customizations — including source control, automated builds, packaging, and promotion through DEV → TEST → QA → PROD.
• Automate and mitigate risks during deployments of Opcenter model/config artifacts and Mendix applications, ensuring versioning, rollback capabilities, and environment parity.
• Integrate automated testing and quality gates into the pipeline; incorporate static analysis and review checkpoints.
• Governance, Quality & Collaboration: Collaborate with PLM, manufacturing engineering, and shop-floor stakeholders to confirm that the digital thread operates correctly from end to end.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and security standards — AS9100, export control (ITAR/EAR), and platform/network segmentation expectations (e.g., Purdue model) in all developed and deployed solutions.
• Document architecture and decisions clearly and effectively communicate with both technical colleagues and non-technical leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or a related field with 10+ years of relevant work experience; or an Advanced Degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience with Siemens Opcenter Execution — creating customizations/extensions within its model-driven environment (data model, Functional Blocks / POM, Signal Rules, Business Process Flows, model-driven UI). (Experience with Camstar / Opcenter Execution Core lineage is relevant.)
• Proficiency in Mendix — developing and expanding low-code applications (Studio Pro, microflows/nanoflows, custom widgets), preferably in an Opcenter/manufacturing context.
• Strong C# / .NET engineering expertise — including server-side extension logic, integration services, and familiarity with the Microsoft/Visual Studio toolchain; experience with Entity Framework and OData/REST.
• Proven experience in systems integration between enterprise systems using REST/OData (and ideally event/message-based patterns), with a solid understanding of incremental/delta synchronization and effectivity.
• Demonstrated ownership of CI/CD processes — managing Git-based source control, automated build/test/deploy pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar), including versioning and rollback capabilities.
• Experience in technical leadership — mentoring developers, conducting code reviews, and establishing engineering standards, ideally across a distributed/offshore team.
• Excellent communication skills — capable of aligning with non-technical operations and executive stakeholders as well as with technical peers.
