This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee intricate projects involving multiple stakeholders and engineers to facilitate the scalability of our business and team.
• Partner with the Security team to ensure Vanta's platform adheres to best practices regarding customer data protection.
• Assist in design evaluations, articulate limitations, and guide engineers in making optimal trade-offs.
• Serve as a cultural guide, exemplifying effective, collaborative engineering practices while mentoring junior colleagues.
• Make informed trade-offs that balance business priorities, user experience, and a robust technical foundation.
• Propel initiatives aimed at enhancing operational readiness and execution quality throughout the engineering organization.
• Possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in backend development within the industry.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of authentication protocols (OIDC, SAML) and identity federation concepts (SSO), as well as authorization frameworks (RBAC, policy-based access control).
• Have experience in creating platform services that can scale across various teams.
• Exhibit strong data modeling capabilities for systems with intricate relationships.
• Have tackled challenges related to performance and security in distributed systems.
• Achieved success in complex technical migrations while ensuring system stability.
• Maintain a security-focused mindset with a solid grasp of enterprise security practices.
• Have led technical projects that span several months.
• Thrive in environments that emphasize decisive action and getting results.
• Have experience in mentoring and working collaboratively with other engineers.
• Show interest in contributing to Vanta's engineering culture as we expand.
• Be open to leveraging AI to enhance skills and improve work efficiency, demonstrating curiosity, a willingness to learn, and sound judgment in applying AI responsibly.
