Senior Backend Engineer, Python, FastAPI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Partner with cross-functional teams to design and deploy backend services and APIs.

• Create efficient, scalable, and maintainable server-side code utilizing contemporary backend technologies.

• Develop and enhance microservices for high-performance distributed systems.

• Optimize real-time data processing and event-driven architectures.

• Perform unit, integration, and load testing to guarantee system reliability and performance.

• Implement RESTful APIs and server-side functionality using Python and FastAPI.

• Build and deploy containerized applications in cloud environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

• Work with server-side events and messaging queues (e.g., SQS) to facilitate real-time communication.

• Ensure application security, scalability, and resilience through effective backend design.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience as a backend engineer.

• Extensive experience with Python, especially in developing REST APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask.

• Proficient in microservices architecture and deployment in containerized settings (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

• Strong understanding of databases (e.g., Snowflake, AWS DynamoDB, RDS, MySQL, MongoDB).

• Familiarity with distributed search and indexing technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Solr).

• Proficiency in server-side events, event-driven architectures, and messaging systems.

• Experience with cloud-based deployment on AWS, including Serverless platforms like AWS Lambda, Step Functions, and SQS.

• Advanced knowledge of CI/CD tools and pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Octopus).

• Strong analytical skills with experience in debugging and optimizing backend systems.

• Solid grasp of security best practices for backend systems, including authentication and data protection.

• Experience with agile development methodologies.

• Knowledge of web servers and backend frameworks.

• Proficiency in logging and monitoring tools for backend systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch).

• Experience in integrating with third-party APIs and ensuring data consistency.

• Willingness to work across global time zones (EST, IST, and others).
