Senior Backend Engineer – Lodging, Cars

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Execute comprehensive technical integrations with external accommodations, transportation, and GDS partners while managing intricate communication protocols and distributed data structures.

• Write clean and efficient code in Scala or other JVM languages to maintain, develop, and uphold stringent engineering standards for essential lodging services.

• Investigate and address existing complex codebases to delve into infrastructure and resolve production challenges in a distributed systems environment.

• Collaborate with Product Managers and Operations to break down business requirements into technical tasks and provide estimates for delivery timelines.

• Take complete responsibility for the development lifecycle of new product features, from initial technical implementation and testing to deployment in production.

• Contribute to the design of highly resilient, low-latency services to ensure a smooth booking experience for customers during peak loads.

• Engage in detailed code reviews and pinpoint opportunities to enhance scalability, performance, and system health.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong expertise in Scala or other JVM languages, such as Java or Kotlin, with an emphasis on developing scalable, high-throughput services.

• A demonstrated history of owning the technical implementation, testing, and deployment of features within a microservices architecture.

• Hands-on experience with distributed systems and service communication methods including gRPC, Pub/Sub, and REST.

• The capability to onboard swiftly and navigate technical ambiguity by independently exploring and executing technical plans within the existing infrastructure.

• Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams in a remote-first setting.

• A professional curiosity about the travel tech sector and a commercial mindset focused on delivering dependable booking fulfillment.
