Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and implement a clean, scalable backend code framework that facilitates the integration of various AI models.

• Identify, assess, and enhance core backend APIs to significantly boost response times.

• Create and deploy proactive security measures to safeguard our private platform files and premium assets from web crawlers and unauthorized scraping.

• Integrate AI agents (such as Claude or Codex) into backend workflows and CI/CD pipelines to achieve measurable enhancements in development speed, code validation, and automated testing.

• Develop sophisticated, automated asset ingestion pipelines utilizing AI to moderate, tag, and assess incoming assets.

• Optimize our text-based search and visually-driven semantic/vector search to provide hyper-relevant, rapid results.

• Implement comprehensive performance monitoring and error tracking using Sentry, and enforce stringent code verification workflows with SonarQube to modernize our deployment pipeline for the AI era.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional backend software engineering experience in high-traffic, data-intensive environments.

• Extensive, battle-tested knowledge of PHP / Laravel for our core monolith, along with strong proficiency in Node.js for our serverless microservices.

• Significant hands-on experience in a multi-cloud setting.

• Familiarity with AWS (RDS, ElastiCache/Redis, S3) for essential data/caching, and GCP (Cloud Run, BigQuery) for data warehousing and serverless functions.

• Background in integrating and abstracting APIs from leading AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, HuggingFace).

• Hands-on experience in scaling Meilisearch (or Elasticsearch) and Vector Databases (Qdrant, Pinecone).

• Proven track record of implementing rate-limiting, WAFs, and anti-scraping strategies.

• Proficient in writing clean, testable code.

• Experience with APM tools (Sentry) for identifying bottlenecks, CI/CD quality gates (SonarQube), and leveraging AI tools to enhance engineering productivity.

• Strong understanding of complex state machines, ledger-based billing systems, event-driven architectures, and API lifecycle management.
