
Senior AWS Cloud Engineer – Serverless, Technical Ownership

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Design and implement serverless solutions utilizing AWS, primarily through Lambda, API Gateway, and event-driven services.
• Assume responsibility for technical decisions, encompassing architecture, scalability, performance, and cost considerations.
• Enhance existing systems by extending and refining services based on genuine business requirements.
• Convert functional specifications into well-organized technical solutions rather than mere code execution.
• Develop and sustain backend logic using Python, including integrations, data processing, and service orchestration.
• Implement and uphold event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, SNS, EventBridge).
• Guarantee effective error handling, observability, and system reliability in distributed environments.
• Collaborate with backend, DevOps, and business teams to deliver resilient solutions.
• Participate in technical discussions and architectural decision-making, even for existing systems.
• Adhere to and refine existing patterns and best practices, avoiding unnecessary reinvention.
• Over 5 years of experience in backend or cloud engineering positions.
• Strong practical experience in developing backend or serverless solutions using Python (e.g., APIs, integrations, data management, AWS SDK/Boto3).
• Demonstrated experience with AWS serverless services in a production environment, particularly:
• - Lambda
• - API Gateway
• - DynamoDB
• - S3
• Familiarity with event-driven systems, with a solid understanding of asynchronous flows and distributed processing.
• Experience in contributing to or shaping architecture decisions, particularly in serverless or cloud-native environments.
• Strong grasp of microservices architecture, including its appropriate use compared to serverless or monolithic approaches.
• Experience managing real-world production challenges such as:
• - Timeouts and long-running processes
• - Data processing at scale
• - Service-to-service communication
• Ability to conceptualize designs, not just execute tasks.
• Understanding of architectural trade-offs (cost, scalability, performance).
• Experience in enhancing existing systems rather than solely developing new ones.
• Practical knowledge of IAM and security best practices (e.g., applying least privilege in real scenarios).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, including understanding deployment workflows and making necessary adjustments.
