
Senior Associate General Counsel, Clinical Research

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Offers legal guidance and counsel to Advocate Health’s National Center for Clinical Trials.
• Oversees the negotiation process for clinical trial agreements and other related contracts.
• Drafts and evaluates agreements while negotiating amendments to ensure adherence to Advocate Health's requirements and standards.
• Creates and maintains contract templates and playbooks to streamline contract negotiations.
• Collaborates with industry sponsors, academic institutions, and other healthcare systems as needed to facilitate agreements for collaborative research initiatives.
• Assesses grants and grant applications for legal concerns and risks, working with internal stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of Advocate Health’s obligations under those grants.
• Provides legal advice and guidance on investigatory matters related to clinical research and the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
• A minimum of 7 years’ experience representing healthcare entities, working within a contract research organization, pharmaceutical company, or a combination of these.
• Juris Doctor degree is required.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Specialized knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to clinical research.
• Proficient in analyzing laws, regulations, case law, standards, governing documents, contracts, and risk management issues to safeguard the organization from legal risks.
• Capability to incorporate digital tools and artificial intelligence in legal research, reasoning, drafting, and communication to improve the quality, speed, and relevance of legal services.
• Base compensation is determined within the specified pay range based on factors such as qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and/or training.
• Additional premium pay opportunities such as shift differentials, on-call pay, and more based on the specific job role.
