This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Generate top-quality keyframe and/or motion capture animations for characters, creatures, vehicles, and gameplay systems.
• Create expressive and credible movements that enhance gameplay responsiveness and narrative objectives.
• Deliver refined animation cycles encompassing locomotion, combat, traversal, facial animation, cinematic performances, and interactive sequences.
• Ensure consistency in animation style, quality, and performance throughout the project.
• Integrate and enhance animations within game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Diagnose and address animation issues related to rigging, blending, state machines, and gameplay integration.
• Work collaboratively with design, engineering, cinematic, audio, and art teams to fulfill gameplay and storytelling goals.
• Engage in creative reviews, sprint planning, and milestone deliverables.
• Offer suggestions to enhance animation pipelines, workflows, and player engagement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Game Art, Fine Arts, Multimedia, or equivalent industry experience.
• At least one AAA, AA, or commercially released game title shipped.
• Advanced knowledge of animation principles, including timing, weight, posing, spacing, and body mechanics.
• Strong portfolio or demo reel showcasing high-quality gameplay and cinematic animation work.
• High proficiency in industry-standard software such as Autodesk Maya, MotionBuilder, Blender, or similar.
• Experience in implementing animations in Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary engines.
• Familiarity with rigging constraints, animation systems, and technical pipelines.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and feedback abilities.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Proficient in Japanese and possess a high level of English language proficiency.
