This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Manage field property claims independently, including those that require external investigations and catastrophe (CAT) response.
• Conduct in-depth investigations, evaluate coverage, and prepare necessary documentation such as reservation of rights and coverage letters.
• Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to transfer risk to suitable entities, benefiting both insureds and business partners.
• Keep meticulous and detailed claim records, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to jurisdictional standards.
• Appropriately identify and assign subrogation potential; establish files to facilitate successful recovery efforts.
• Ensure compliance of all claims activities with regulatory and company policies.
• Investigate and manage suspicious claims employing advanced techniques and tools; refer cases to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) when necessary.
• Set reserves, authorize payments, and make financial decisions within established authority while contributing to reserving accuracy and efficiency.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal, underwriting, vendors, and agents.
• Utilize advanced tools and analytics to detect trends, rectify inconsistencies, and enhance claims handling efficiency.
• Act as a mentor to junior adjusters, offering guidance on complex claims, compliance, and litigation processes.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in claim handling.
• Generally requires 5–10 years of adjusting experience.
• Strong understanding of local geography, regulations, and public safety agencies, along with the ability to build relationships with insureds and navigate the insurance and legal landscape.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations, case law, and third-party legal liability concepts.
• Proficient in negotiation and formulating strategies to influence outcomes.
• Exhibits sound judgment and decision-making abilities, particularly in litigation and compliance matters.
• Communicates clearly and effectively in both verbal and written forms across various situations.
• Exceptionally organized with the capacity to handle complex workflows and project tasks.
• Makes informed decisions grounded in comprehensive analysis of intricate issues.
• Capable of collaborating with internal and external experts, including legal, underwriting, and other stakeholders for thorough evaluations.
• Able to swiftly assess customer concerns and predict questions, clearly communicating and translating complex technical terms into easily understandable language; delivers difficult messages when necessary.
• Proficient in utilizing claims systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must possess and maintain the appropriate state adjuster licenses, continuing education credits, and a valid driver’s license.
