Senior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the **complete monthly closing process**, which includes journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.

• Ensure accurate financial records in **QuickBooks** in compliance with GAAP standards.

• Prepare and review all accounting entries throughout the organization.

• Maintain a clean, audit-ready balance sheet and profit & loss statement.

• Oversee and reconcile **Stripe and payment platform transactions**.

• Develop scalable procedures for **reconciling high-volume transactions**.

• Get ready for increased complexity involving refunds, disputes, and chargebacks.

• Manage reconciliations among payment processors, settlement accounts, reserves, refunds, chargebacks, and international payment flows.

• Create scalable controls and reconciliation processes for high-volume consumer transactions.** **

• Implement proper **revenue recognition** across various revenue streams.

• Assist in the implementation and ongoing management of **sales tax and VAT**.

• Collaborate with external advisors and tools to ensure compliance as the business expands.

• Account for complex transactional flows involving payment intermediaries, international clients, and multiple jurisdictions.

• Support compliance with sales tax, VAT, GST, and other indirect tax obligations.** **

• Recognize and apply **automation opportunities** within accounting workflows.

• Enhance and maintain integrations between **Stripe, QuickBooks, and other systems**.

• Utilize and introduce **AI tools** to optimize reconciliations, transaction classification, the closing process, and reporting workflows.

• Create and document **scalable accounting processes and controls**.

• Minimize manual tasks and boost efficiency over time.

• Anticipate future requirements as transaction volume and complexity increase.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4–7+ years of accounting experience.

• Strong command over **month-end closing and accrual accounting**.

• Background in e-commerce, SaaS, digital commerce, marketplaces, subscription services, or other high-volume transaction settings.

• Practical experience with **QuickBooks and Stripe** (or similar platforms).

• Knowledge of **sales tax and/or VAT** (implementation experience is a plus).

• Proven ability to **develop or enhance processes**, rather than just sustaining them.

• Comfortable working **independently and remotely** within accounting.

• Experience reconciling payment processor activities, settlement reports, refunds, disputes, reserves, and chargebacks.

• Understanding of revenue recognition and accounting for complex transaction flows.

• Familiarity with multi-currency transactions and indirect tax obligations (sales tax, VAT, GST).
