This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France, +5 more states.
• Take ownership of game feel from start to finish: manage a mechanic's journey from greybox and UX blockout through to animation, visual effects, and final approval.
• Create hand-animated gameplay objects: design idle states, activation responses, interaction feedback, and state transitions, while mastering timing, weight, anticipation, and follow-through.
• Develop impactful visual effects and shaders: craft impact, feedback, and state change visuals that clearly convey information without overwhelming the object's readability.
• Convert concepts into 3D while preserving their essence: align with the original intent, enhance the charm, and challenge concepts early when gameplay requires innovative approaches.
• Iterate directly within Unity: work with prefabs, colliders, animator state machines, and possess the technical skills to quickly test your own ideas rather than delegating them.
• Over 5 years of experience creating 3D core gameplay animations for mobile games.
• Expertise in 3D animation: produce hand-keyed animations that impart personality and weight to inanimate objects, rooted in fundamental animation principles rather than just tools.
• Proficient visual effects skills: design particle systems and impact effects that enhance clarity rather than distract from it.
• Strong gameplay intuition: as a gamer, you can interpret design intent from prototypes and engage in meaningful discussions with designers about what makes a mechanic enjoyable or not.
• Proficient in Unity: able to create blockouts, manage prefabs, and navigate animator and state machines, with the technical knowledge to solve problems independently.
• Genuine shader development skills: capable of writing and debugging your own shaders, not just connecting pre-existing ones.
• Commitment to concept fidelity: closely align with the intent of a concept while improving it throughout the 3D production process.
• Effective visual communication: create storyboards and blockouts that ensure all stakeholders share a unified vision before production begins.
• Demonstrate autonomy and initiative: maintain high-quality standards independently, while also contributing unrequested enhancements alongside assigned tasks.
• Bonus points if you can conceptualize ideas independently, have experience with physics-based gameplay, or have mentored or evaluated the work of other artists.
• Comprehensive Benefits: Depending on your location, you'll enjoy various perks including insurance, meal vouchers, public transport, gym memberships, and more.
• Paris HQ Access: Work from our private office in a conveniently located WeWork building, gaining access to amenities such as a rooftop view and beautifully designed coworking spaces.
