This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Communicate with educators and parents regarding dissection and assist animals by addressing their utilization in classrooms across the nation.
β’ Establish and nurture connections with school district leaders and decision-makers to secure pilot program opportunities and implement dissection bans throughout the country.
β’ Aid in the strategy development and execution of legislation aimed at ending animal dissection in educational settings.
β’ Address science-related inquiries, including those related to chick-hatching projects and bottle biology.
β’ Conduct research on schools and districts to identify potential alternatives to animal dissection.
β’ Keep track of sources for opportunities to provide humane science options.
β’ Handle incoming information requests related to Kind Frog.
β’ Represent TeachKind and engage in outreach at science educator conferences.
β’ Actively seek and reach out to schools regarding the cessation of dissection.
β’ Create and manage dissection-related content for the TeachKind section of PETA.org.
β’ Monitor dissection hashtags on social media for potential outreach opportunities for TeachKind.
β’ Travel as needed to represent TeachKind and PETA at educational conferences and other events.
β’ Carry out additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.
β’ A background in science education, preferably with a minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience.
β’ Comprehensive understanding of issues related to the use of animals in science education.
β’ Familiarity with scientific terminology and virtual dissection software.
β’ Outstanding verbal communication and writing abilities, including proficient grammar and sentence structure.
β’ Awareness of animal rights issues.
β’ Proficient computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office software.
β’ Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
β’ Strong phone skills for effective communication with educators and parents.
β’ Capability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
β’ Professional demeanor and commitment to a healthy vegan lifestyle.
β’ Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
β’ Willingness and capability to travel.
β’ Must be at least 21 years old.
β’ Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license, have a minimum of three years of driving experience, and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
