This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Under close supervision, assists customers by handling incoming calls in accordance with Denver Health and departmental policies/processes to address customer inquiries and directing calls to the appropriate department when necessary.
• Responsible for efficiently screening and identifying customer needs and taking suitable actions based on this information.
• Provides support to Denver Health staff by gathering demographic, medical complaint, and essential information needed to ensure appropriate patient care and resolution of calls.
• Completes computerized patient scheduling and collects comprehensive demographic and insurance details necessary for the timely and accurate billing of services, as well as obtaining pre-certification authorization and benefit information required for payment.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
• A minimum of two years of customer service or healthcare experience is required.
• Familiarity with a range of healthcare concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Exceptional customer focus/service, interpersonal skills, listening abilities, verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving capabilities, and multitasking skills.
• Knowledge of standardized scheduling, canceling, rescheduling, and attendance procedures.
• Understanding of the Commercial Insurance referral and authorization process is preferred.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Capable of typing at a speed of 40 words per minute.
• Proficient in PC applications (NT, Windows), healthcare software, and phone systems.
• Bilingual in Spanish is required.
