This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and conduct interpretation in a courteous and professional manner.
• Accurately convey concepts and meanings in accordance with established interpretation protocols, ensuring no omissions or additions.
• Articulate clearly in both languages, utilizing proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout all interpreting sessions.
• Stay composed during interpreting sessions, particularly if one of the primary speakers is upset or incoherent, especially in emergency scenarios like 911 calls.
• Ensure punctuality and availability during designated work hours.
• Adhere to client instructions and protocols to meet client expectations with the Limited English-speaking Person (LEP), refraining from engaging with the LEP without the client's consent.
• Be familiar with the protocols and terminology relevant to various industries, including but not limited to Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
• Show dedication to cultural sensitivity and thrive in a diverse working environment.
• Proficient in Sango and English, with a strong understanding of the associated cultural dynamics.
• Capability to provide cultural competency and evaluate regional and accent variations to enhance communication with the LEP.
• Exceptional listening, retention, and note-taking abilities to ensure a high level of accuracy during interpretation.
• Ability to maintain focus, remain detached from the conversation, and uphold neutrality and objectivity at all times, particularly in sensitive discussions involving topics such as end-of-life matters, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and issues related to sexual orientation and/or gender expression.
• Educational background or professional experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation is preferred.
• Must be adaptable to any LLS technology advancements that enhance service delivery and respond to client needs.
• Minimum age requirement of 18 years.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Candidates currently employed by a client of LanguageLine Solutions or an associated LanguageLine Solutions business may not be eligible for consideration.
• Proficiency in reading and writing the required languages is highly preferred.
