In-Game Localization Specialist, French

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Localize in-game text, user interfaces, dialogues, subtitles, and narrative content for designated languages while preserving tone, style, and context.

• Ensure cultural appropriateness and sensitivity by adjusting content suitably for regional audiences.

• Review and refine localized content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality standards.

• Assist in maintaining glossaries, style guides, and terminology databases.

• Collaborate with localization QA teams to detect and rectify linguistic errors within the game.

• Offer insights on localization processes and propose enhancements for improved efficiency and quality.

• Coordinate efforts with language teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native-level proficiency in the target language.

• Adherence to ISO 17100 Certification Criteria:

• A graduate degree in translation, linguistics, or language studies, OR

• A graduate degree in another discipline along with 2 years of full-time professional translation experience, OR

• 5 years of full-time professional translation experience.

• A minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience in localizing video game content.

• Comprehensive and practical knowledge of the nuances involved in translating various gaming content types:

• User interface content/menus

• Mission text

• Non-Player Character (NPC) ambient dialogue

• Locked cutscene subtitle blocks

• Transcreation experience specifically within the gaming industry, translating NBA-related content for video games.

• Familiarity with game engines and localization workflows.

• Understanding of scripting formats (e.g., XML, JSON) is advantageous.

• A strong passion for video games, particularly in the sports, action, or narrative-driven genres.
