This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Investigate and address trends in payment denials through thorough follow-up on accounts receivable.
• Formulate and implement strategies and procedures aimed at minimizing denials and optimizing reimbursements.
• Utilize the practice management system to examine accounts receivable trends and request payments from insurers and patients.
• Draft appeal letters for claims that are unpaid or inaccurately compensated.
• Resolve claim edits within the practice management billing system.
• Support the training of both current and new employees on departmental policies and systems.
• Stay updated on managed care and third-party payer policies and procedures.
• Review and submit requests for refunds and write-offs.
• Approve and execute write-offs as required.
• Carry out other related tasks as assigned.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Approximately 3-5 years of experience in medical billing, with a focus on accounts receivable.
• Understanding of third-party reimbursement processes.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Previous experience with an electronic medical record (eMR) system.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools for data sorting, filtering, and summarization.
• Ability to work independently and make sound judgments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
• Strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.
• Capability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
• Aptitude for managing confidential information with the highest level of discretion.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with departmental faculty, staff, and institutional representatives.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and database applications.
