Research Associate I

📋 Description

• The Research Associate I will collaborate within the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, aiding studies on host responses to infectious diseases.

• This role encompasses performing molecular biology, virology, and cell biology techniques including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, real-time PCR, protein purification, cloning, Western blotting, ELISA, and tissue culture, with additional responsibilities in infection studies and virus purification after training.

• The position also includes animal research activities such as handling, injections, blood collection, and tissue processing and analysis.

• Engage in research projects by conducting experiments under the guidance and supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI).

• Assist the PI with building protocols and the submission/approval processes (e.g., IACUC and IBC).

• Accountable for general lab management, including maintaining lab inventories, standard operating procedures (SOPs), placing orders, lab upkeep, and staff training.

• Carry out additional tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree with four (4) years of research lab experience or a Master's degree with three (3) years of research lab experience is required.

• Prior experience in experimental systems related to mutagenesis, homologous/non-homologous recombination, and deaminase activities.

• Must be able to remain reasonably active and on their feet for approximately 80% of the day.
