Research Assistant – Software Security, Program Analysis

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Collaborate on applied research initiatives in software security alongside our partners from academic institutions, industry, and public administration.

• Develop and scientifically assess innovative methods for identifying, analyzing, verifying, and resolving software vulnerabilities.

• Investigate new methodologies in static and dynamic program analysis, including fuzzing and the integration of AI techniques for vulnerability detection.

• Execute security analyses on real-world software systems, which includes conducting code reviews.

• Perform penetration testing and security evaluations.

• Conduct risk and threat assessments.

• Contribute to publicly funded research initiatives and industry partnerships.

• Prepare project documentation and scientific publications.

• Present research findings at national and international conferences.

⛳️ Requirements

• A completed university degree (Master’s) in Computer Science, IT Security, or a related discipline.

• A strong passion for software security, program analysis, and security research, particularly within software-driven systems.

• Excellent programming skills (e.g., Java, C/C++), with a specific focus on code security.

• Experience or interest in one or more of the following domains: static/dynamic program analysis, fuzzing.

• Proficiency in penetration testing, exploit analysis, and vulnerability research.

• Knowledge of risk and threat modeling.

• Skills in code reviews and penetration testing.

• Proficient in both German and English, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
