This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide outstanding news coverage that informs, engages, and inspires audiences throughout Minnesota.

• Cultivate sources, conduct research, report, and create daily general news and in-depth stories, as well as program segments for all channels including radio, podcast, digital, and social media.

• Participate in special assignments in Mahnomen County, including mentoring students and producing stories and content for local Native news partners in the region.

• Directs coverage of community issues and solutions within Mahnomen County.

• Maintains a diverse range of sources, focusing on Native and Indigenous voices.

• Conceives and proposes stories for reports, programs, podcasts, and/or digital content, incorporating video and social media with a comprehensive and diverse understanding.

• Produces compelling voice, sound, and visually rich stories and materials with minimal oversight, including in-depth reports on various subjects under tight deadlines, digital media (comprising written and visual content for social media and online platforms), breaking news, and/or feature stories.

• May be tasked with live reporting and two-ways when appropriate.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or equivalent professional experience.

• 3-5 years or more of reporting experience or other relevant background.

• Capability to develop sources pertinent to the assignment.

• Proficiency in delivering stories with skill and authority.

• Competence in researching and interpreting records and other source materials as necessary.

• Skillful in interviewing subjects and witnesses.

• Ability to report on complex or multifaceted stories competently and meet deadlines with moderate supervision.

• Experience in performing live on-air reports.

• Willingness to learn and keep up with current and emerging technologies and platforms.
