This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Lead, recruit, and nurture a team of QA Engineers (II and III) by conducting regular one-on-ones, structured career development discussions, and performance evaluations.

• Actively engage in ongoing releases as the primary quality owner, monitoring progress, removing obstacles, and maintaining accountability for the overall delivery of QA commitments across all active workstreams.

• Take ownership of the QA strategy for all designated product areas and development teams, ensuring test coverage standards and release governance processes align with engineering and business objectives.

• Supervise the QA release process across various development teams, ensuring that all releases adhere to the Central QA process, quality gates are enforced, and sign-off conditions are consistently fulfilled prior to production deployment.

• Act as the escalation point for intricate defects, release-blocking quality risks, inter-team process conflicts, and resource issues, ensuring that the appropriate stakeholders are engaged promptly.

• Propel the automation roadmap by establishing coverage targets, assessing frameworks, and ensuring CI/CD integration progressively minimizes manual regression efforts.

• Participate in and contribute to roadmap discussions, release planning, and retrospectives as an essential participant.

• Foster a culture of shift-left testing by integrating quality considerations into design, planning, and code reviews across all teams, not solely during the testing phase.

• Organize QA planning across squads for significant releases and platform migrations.

• Investigate and assess emerging QA tools and methodologies; provide well-founded build-vs-buy recommendations based on team capacity, product risk profiles, and long-term quality objectives.

• Manage the QA process documentation, reviewing it quarterly and communicating updates to all engineering teams.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in QA, including at least two to three years in a lead or senior QA position with direct people-management responsibilities.

• Proven ability to remain hands-on during active releases, tracking delivery commitments, resolving blockers, and holding the team accountable for quality outcomes without resorting to micromanagement.

• Extensive knowledge of release governance, experienced in overseeing go/no-go decisions, enforcing sign-off conditions, and managing quality risks across multiple concurrent releases.

• Strong technical expertise in manual testing, API and backend testing, and automation, with a credible ability to review the work of QA Engineers and provide meaningful feedback.

• Established experience in conducting and directing root cause analysis for frontend and backend defects, capable of connecting systemic quality risks to process and tooling enhancements.

• Strong analytical instincts, able to design metrics frameworks and convey a coherent quality narrative to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.

• Proficient in influencing and aligning cross-functional teams without direct authority.

• Collaborative leadership approach that builds trust with engineers, product managers, and senior executives alike.

• Some desirable qualifications include:

• ISTQB Advanced or Expert certification.

• Experience in scaling QA practices across distributed or multi-timezone teams.

• Background in conversational AI, NLP platforms, or high-volume real-time systems.

• Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD practices.
