Python Technical Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Lead the technical vision and execution for the entire solution team, guiding the process from design through to rollout.

• Convert architectural plans into clear implementation choices and uphold engineering best practices.

• Oversee the implementation and enhancement of backend services, leveraging AI-assisted development.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to developers.

• Take ownership of implementation quality, consistency, maintainability, and adherence to industry best practices.

• Establish and uphold engineering standards for observability, alerting, logging, tracing, resilience, rollback readiness, and production support.

• Coordinate and enhance monitoring, alerting, logging, issue resolution, and operational reporting using the current toolchain.

• Collaborate closely with product teams, QA, DevOps, mobile, and IoT engineers.

• Diagnose complex issues, support incident resolution, and assist in rollout and stabilization efforts.

• Aid the team in understanding and managing the complete system flow.

• Serve as the technical owner, bridging architecture, engineering, and daily delivery.

• Direct backend engineering with stringent operational objectives for uptime, data integrity, quality, stability, test coverage, processing latency, release stability, security, and incident response.

• Ensure efficient infrastructure and backend cost awareness, particularly in AWS/GCP environments.

• Maintain technical documentation, decision logs, runbooks, onboarding materials, and secure SDLC practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid backend engineering experience within production systems and prior exposure to a technical leadership role.

• Proven track record in designing and managing microservices at scale in intricate production settings.

• Extensive experience with event-driven systems; familiarity with event sourcing is a plus.

• Strong hands-on experience in developing backend Python lambda services.

• Significant experience with AWS serverless architectures and distributed lambda-based backend systems, alongside cost management.

• Proficiency in data modeling and persistence with PostgreSQL and document/NoSQL-style databases, as well as blob storage.

• In-depth experience with CI/CD and contemporary software delivery practices, ensuring code quality and security.

• Background in enhancing release stability, test coverage, and secure SDLC processes in a live product context.

• Experience in observability, production support, incident management, debugging, and operational ownership in event-driven systems, with a focus on availability, stability, and performance.

• Capability to ensure performance, reliability, code coverage, and stability in production settings.

• Testing expertise in distributed systems, including unit testing, integration, contract, API, end-to-end, and performance testing.

• Experience with both third-party and internal integrations.

• Familiarity with frequent production rollouts, post-release support, and incident management.

• Excellent communication skills in English.

• Proven experience in leading technical delivery within Agile teams.
