
Psychiatrist – Intake & Clinical Escalations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Perform thorough psychiatric intake evaluations that include assessing symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, treatment responses, medication history, substance use, psychosocial factors, mental status, and safety risks.
• Establish or clarify diagnoses and create personalized, evidence-based treatment strategies.
• Assess when patients are ready to transition to PMHNP-led care and ensure comprehensive and timely clinical handoffs.
• Manage a small psychiatrist-led follow-up caseload for patients who are complex, high-acuity, high-risk, or resistant to treatment.
• Collaborate with APPs on inquiries related to diagnostics, medications, safety, treatment responses, and acuity levels.
• Prescribe medications via telehealth, including Schedule II and Schedule IV controlled substances as appropriate and legally allowed.
• Offer clinical guidance, feedback, mentorship, and case-based assistance to PMHNPs and other APPs.
• Work in partnership with clinicians, operations, patient support, pharmacy coordination, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Ensure accurate and prompt clinical documentation is completed.
• Engage in case reviews and clinical discussions to enhance care pathways, prescribing protocols, and quality standards.
• M.D. or D.O. degree.
• Completion of a residency program in psychiatry accredited by the relevant authorities.
• An active and unrestricted medical license in Texas.
• Board certification or eligibility in psychiatry.
• Active and unrestricted DEA registration along with state-controlled substance registrations as required.
• Professional experience in providing psychiatric care through telehealth services.
• Background in community mental health settings.
• Experience in working with diverse, underserved, or clinically complicated patient populations.
• Experience in managing, supervising, mentoring, or leading APPs clinically.
• Proven experience in collaborating with interdisciplinary clinical and operational teams.
• Strong skills in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, risk evaluation, and medication management.
• Experience with prescribing Schedule II and Schedule IV controlled substances via telehealth in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Capacity to formulate clear, evidence-based treatment plans.
• Sound judgment in determining transitions between psychiatrist-led and APP-led care.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Proficiency in using telehealth platforms, technology, and electronic health record systems.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain additional state licenses as requested by Legion.
• Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care and responsible prescribing practices.
• Interest in AI and enthusiasm for technology-enhanced clinical care.
• Comfort in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Required qualifications include an active, unrestricted Texas PMHNP license, active, unrestricted Texas DEA license, and ANCC PMHNP board certification.
