This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Provide clarity on the operation of Chapter 194, F.S. and DOR uniform rules 12D-9 and 12D-10 in practice.
• Discuss the variations at the county level among Florida Property Appraiser offices and VABs, including those in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Hillsborough, Orange, Duval, Pinellas, and Lee.
• Assist with the mechanics of filing, covering aspects such as TRIM notice timing, the 25-day filing window, DR-486 and its variants, e-filing versus paper submissions, and the §194.014 partial-payment requirement.
• Aid in designing a hearings-and-evidence workflow that encompasses comparable selection, 15-day and 7-day evidence exchange windows, and condition-based arguments.
• Evaluate the product under development, testing customer flows, backend authorization processes, and filing logic.
• Identify processes that may not withstand the Florida VAB system and rectify any issues prior to production.
• Provide guidance on regulatory and procedural accuracy for Jerry’s early-stage property-tax-appeals product.
• Over 5 years of direct, hands-on experience in Florida related to filing residential property tax appeals.
• Personal experience in filing or presenting petitions before a Florida Value Adjustment Board, or serving as a special magistrate in adjudication.
• Experience with numerous parcels and familiarity with unique or complex cases.
• Thorough understanding of each phase of the Florida property tax appeals process.
• Capability to articulate county-level distinctions, such as those between Broward and Hillsborough.
• No current conflicts: must not be advising another company that develops consumer property tax appeal software.
• Preference for candidates based in Florida.
• Availability for approximately 5–10 hours per week for consulting on an hourly basis via phone or video.
• Must be able to work as an independent contractor.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. or Canada is required.
• Direct experience with the Florida property tax appeal system is essential.
