This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Exercise independent judgment or discretion when managing assigned property claims

• Act as a consultant for claims adjusters addressing property losses

• Establish prompt communication with policyholders and claimants

• Investigate the causes and origins of significant property claims

• Conduct interviews with insured individuals, claimants, and other pertinent parties

• Assess property damage through inspections

• Review information and formulate estimates

• Evaluate and recommend decisions regarding claim coverage

• Determine liability and the overall value of claims

• Negotiate settlement agreements

• Set and uphold adequate reserves

• Assess the extent of property damage using independent judgment

• Develop estimates and secure mutually agreed-upon scopes of work and repair costs from contractors and/or policyholders

• Determine values relevant to coverage

• Identify necessary steps to commence property-loss investigations

• Engage outside experts and attorneys when required

• Document claim files and submit final reports for closure

• Assign and oversee independent adjusters managing property losses when needed

• Advise claims adjusters on effective claim handling

• Provide training for field-office claims personnel in both the branch and Home Office

• Participate in industry-related training programs to remain updated on legal changes and regulatory compliance

• Foster and maintain relationships with local, state, and regional organizations and agencies

• Coordinate activities of the Catastrophe Team at catastrophe sites


⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED along with five years of claims handling experience; up to two years of equivalent experience may be accepted as a substitute

• Bachelor’s Degree with three years of claims handling experience; up to two years of equivalent experience may be accepted as a substitute

• Proficient knowledge of Windows software is required

• Capability to participate in the Catastrophe Team, including the potential for short-notice travel to various locations for extended periods exceeding two consecutive weeks

• Availability around the clock for emergency claims service

• Appropriate licensure as mandated by state regulations

• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required

• Ability to drive and travel regularly within the designated territory

• Strong time management and organizational skills are preferred

• Completion of Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) and AIC 35 is preferred

• Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Capacity to lift over 50 lbs using lifting aids

• Ability to access heights and climb as necessary

• Frequent driving capability is required

• Ability to lift/move objects weighing 0–20 lbs and 20–50 lbs

• Competence in manual keying, data entry, and computer utilization

• Ability to push, pull, or maneuver wheeled objects and equipment
