This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Track advancements in climate change, climate justice, and human mobility.
• Foster connections with communities affected by climate issues that have undergone or are vulnerable to forced displacement.
• Organize participatory research and documentation concerning climate-induced displacement.
• Enhance and manage the Regional Network for Climate Mobility (K'at).
• Create and execute advocacy and communication strategies.
• Assist in the formulation of evidence-based public policies pertaining to climate displacement.
• Compile lessons learned, best practices, and program experiences.
• Aid in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) processes, including the establishment of baselines.
• Engage in planning, monitoring, strategic discussions, and team coordination.
• Develop and sustain relationships with partner organizations, networks, and coalitions.
• Represent AFSC in regional forums, coordination platforms, and thematic discussions.
• Enhance partner and community capabilities in climate mobility, advocacy, and intercultural approaches.
• Prepare narrative progress and results reports.
• Assist with fundraising proposals and strategic planning.
• Oversee assigned activities, timelines, and budgets.
• A bachelor's degree in social sciences, law, international relations, development studies, geography, environmental science, or a related field is mandatory.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in human mobility, forced migration, human rights, climate change, or related programs is essential.
• Proven experience working directly with communities, grassroots organizations, and/or civil society in the field, ideally in Central America or Mexico.
• Familiarity with the climate change–forced displacement nexus, including protection frameworks, public policy, or applied research.
• Experience in advocacy processes, alliance formation, and network coordination at both regional and local levels.
• Proven ability to generate and systematize evidence through participatory and/or community-based methodologies.
• Strong understanding of the migration and human mobility landscape in Central America and Mexico, encompassing forced displacement, return migration, and climate migration dynamics.
• Knowledge of international regulatory frameworks concerning migration, forced displacement, and climate change.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish; proficiency in English is a plus.
• Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends and to travel as necessary.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a multicultural, geographically diverse environment.
• Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications and remote collaboration tools.
