Production Tamper Operator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky.

📋 Description

• Operate specialized machinery, including the Mark IV Tamper.

• Conduct preventative maintenance on heavy or specialized equipment.

• Ensure the equipment is maintained in a clean and presentable condition.

• Perform labor tasks as required.

• Maintain communication with the supervisor throughout the job process.

• Adhere to safe working practices.

• Guarantee that working conditions are safe and that appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is utilized as required by job responsibilities.

• Comply with DOT regulations, ensuring that all necessary permits and driving rules are observed.

• Operate machinery safely and efficiently in alignment with regulations, policies, and procedures.

• Carry out safety and maintenance inspections on equipment, making emergency adjustments when necessary.

• Take proactive measures to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, including utility lines, other machinery, personnel, and falling objects.

• Review instructions, plans, and diagrams to determine work requirements.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently.

• A minimum of 3 years' experience operating a Mark IV Tamper in a railroad construction setting.

• Proven excellent safety record.

• Effective communication skills with coworkers, customers, and supervisors.

• Proficient in operating power tools.

• Familiarity with computers and mobile devices, including iPads and iPhones.

• Capable of troubleshooting and repairing machinery.

• Knowledgeable in hydraulics and electronics.

• Ability to read and comprehend construction specifications.

• Able to interpret documents such as safety guidelines, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.

• Willingness to be trained and to train others on machinery operation.

• Physical agility to work in confined spaces when necessary, along with the ability to crouch, stoop, bend, and lift weights exceeding 50 pounds.
