This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Take ownership of the migration strategy for the Appointment Scheduling front-end ecosystem from Angular to React.
• Develop shared component libraries, design tokens, state management patterns, and routing architecture.
• Define strategies for the safe coexistence of Angular and React during the migration process.
• Oversee the visual and interaction language, encompassing the component library, spacing, color, typography, and interaction patterns.
• Manage the design system in Storybook and integrate it with Figma.
• Guarantee that applications comply with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
• Enhance interfaces for responsive web, touch-screen kiosks, and branch tablets.
• Design and construct BFF endpoints, Spring Boot routes, and UI data-shaping layers.
• Create REST API contracts that include error-handling and versioning conventions.
• Collaborate with backend engineers on service-layer tasks and API design evaluations.
• Implement caching, optimistic UI, graceful degradation, and real-time event handling using WebSockets or SSE.
• Advocate for test-driven development across unit, component, and end-to-end testing.
• Set and uphold testing standards utilizing Vitest or Jest, React Testing Library, and Playwright or Cypress.
• Lead front-end code reviews with a focus on testability, maintainability, and architectural consistency.
• Leverage AI coding and design tools for scaffolding, migration, test generation, accessibility audits, and design exploration.
• Establish technical direction and document architectural decisions.
• Mentor front-end engineers on React, TypeScript, testing, accessibility, and API integration.
• Collaborate with the Principal PM and Team Lead on defining features and making implementation decisions.
• Over 8 years of experience in front-end or full-stack web development.
• More than 3 years at a senior or principal individual-contributor level, overseeing front-end architecture for a production application suite.
• Expert-level proficiency in React and TypeScript, including hooks, concurrent features, performance optimization, and state management patterns.
• Hands-on experience in migrating Angular applications to React.
• Strong fluency in Angular across multiple versions.
• Capability and readiness to manage the API layer for front-end features, including BFF patterns, REST endpoint design, and Spring Boot (Java) tasks.
• Genuine design sensibility with the ability to make design decisions independently of a dedicated designer.
• Strong discipline in test-driven development.
• Proficient with React Testing Library, Jest or Vitest, and Playwright or Cypress.
• Solid understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
• Practical experience with AI coding and design tools.
• Must be based in the United States.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for team and customer meetings.
• Experience with scheduling, calendar, or real-time availability interfaces is a plus.
• Background in financial services, banking, credit unions, healthcare, or retail technology is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Figma is a plus.
• Experience with Storybook is a plus.
• Familiarity with Micro Frontend architecture or module federation is a plus.
• Experience in kiosk or large-format touch UX is a plus.
• Flexible remote work arrangement.
• AI tooling support for development, testing, migration, accessibility audits, and design exploration.
• Occasional travel for team and customer meetings.
