Principal Software Engineer – OpenShift Networking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Oversee the establishment of requirements, design, implementation, and testing processes.

• Design and develop networking solutions for OpenShift, concentrating on cluster ingress and DNS.

• Propel contributions to upstream open-source initiatives such as Gateway API, CoreDNS, ExternalDNS, HAProxy, and Istio.

• Create high-performance features in Go, utilizing Kubernetes controllers and APIs.

• Manage the entire software development lifecycle, from gathering requirements to release and ongoing maintenance.

• Diagnose and resolve intricate networking challenges using Linux-based diagnostic tools and techniques.

• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, product management, and community contributors.

• Offer technical expertise to internal and external users of OpenShift networking functionalities.

• Handle incident responses and customer escalations related to ingress and DNS domains.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of software engineering experience in systems, networking, or platform areas.

• Proficiency in Go is essential.

• In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes networking, controllers, and APIs.

• Familiarity with HAProxy, Envoy Proxy, CoreDNS, ExternalDNS, Istio, and DNS protocols.

• Practical experience with Linux (RHEL/Fedora) and foundational networking concepts (IP routing, TLS, etc.).

• A proven history of contributing to or leading open-source projects.

• Outstanding collaboration abilities among distributed teams.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and related concepts.
