This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define and steer the strategic vision for frontend engineering practices, tools, and skill sets throughout the organization.
• Lead the creation of accessible, high-performing, and user-focused web applications catering to government clients.
• Act as the technical expert and thought leader in frontend architecture and engineering excellence.
• Design and execute modern frontend architectures, development pipelines, and deployment infrastructures.
• Deliver new features and enhancements to our customer-facing applications, emphasizing user experience and compliance with accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG).
• Collaborate with product managers to conceptualize and balance the ideal UI/UX experience with implementation efforts, making practical trade-offs that provide value.
• Construct and sustain component libraries, design systems, and shared frontend infrastructure to enhance team velocity and consistency.
• Identify opportunities to update our frontend stack and take charge of technical initiatives that enhance developer experience and application quality.
• Establish and advocate for frontend best practices, including mobile-first development, testing strategies, performance optimization, accessibility standards, and code quality patterns.
• Mentor and guide engineers at all levels on frontend technologies while creating career development pathways for frontend specialization.
• Operate across the full stack as necessary to address problems end-to-end—backend experience is beneficial, but frontend remains your primary focus.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Must be a US citizen, capable of obtaining and maintaining Public Trust 6C.
• Demonstrated experience in architecting and implementing modern frontend applications at scale using React and/or Angular.
• Strong expertise in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and a deep understanding of web platform APIs.
• Solid knowledge of CSS architecture, mobile-first responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Strong grasp of web accessibility standards (minimum WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508 compliance).
• Experience with automated frontend testing strategies, including unit testing, component testing, and end-to-end UI testing with tools like Playwright, Cypress, or similar.
