Principal Software Engineer, Developer Acceleration – Release Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Define the technical vision for HubSpot's build, test, and deployment systems.

• Lead architectural choices concerning pipeline design, testing infrastructure, deployment orchestration, and developer experience.

• Outline the future of HubSpot's delivery platform.

• Regularly write production code and spearhead complex projects from concept to execution.

• Create and implement AI-enhanced QA agents that operate with every deployment.

• Simplify complex infrastructure challenges into efficient, scalable systems.

• Question current beliefs about build systems and deployment pipelines.

• Reassess testing infrastructure for software that increasingly exhibits non-deterministic behavior.

• Lead the initiative toward achieving over 500 deployments per minute while resolving delivery pipeline bottlenecks.

• Collaborate with engineering leaders and engage across teams on technical trade-offs, configuration, change management, design evaluations, mentoring, and critical system choices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in building and refining large-scale distributed systems, especially in CI/CD, build infrastructure, release engineering, or foundational backend platforms.

• Strong architectural insights with a preference for simplicity, clarity, and sustainable platform use.

• Experience working at hyperscaler or platform-provider scale.

• Proven history of leading and delivering complex technical initiatives that have an organization-wide or company-wide impact.

• Practical experience in leading through building, debugging, reviewing, and delivering.

• Capability to swiftly adapt to unfamiliar technical areas.

• Ability to develop firm opinions based on first principles and influence long-term technical strategies.
