Principal Site Reliability Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• You will take ownership of one or more AWS-hosted infrastructures that deliver products to our commercial clients in a B2B setting.

• You will oversee, improve, and troubleshoot our AWS environments, ensuring that as we develop new features, we adhere to top-tier industry standards for continuous integration and deployment of new product and infrastructure releases.

• You will deliver utilizing an agile methodology alongside our customers, so familiarity with working on features for continuous testing and release is essential.

• You will assist and guide other team members in utilizing the appropriate AWS tools to scale the features we provide for our clients.

• You will help facilitate the migration of a substantial multi-tenant Connected Aviation web application from on-premises to the AWS cloud.

• You will be included in the on-call roster to support critical service incidents.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in delivering and operating complex, large-scale cloud systems (AWS preferred), supported by a degree in a relevant STEM discipline (Bachelor’s or advanced degree required).

• Availability for team meetings as early as 9:00 AM Eastern to accommodate colleagues in the UK and India.

• A background in software engineering or a strong proficiency in coding in an object-oriented language (with .NET or Python being advantageous) in relation to managing infrastructure as code using AWS CDK.

• Experience in managing AWS ECS clusters and working with systems hosted in SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, as well as RabbitMQ message brokers.

• Proficiency in Bash and/or PowerShell scripting for new infrastructure components (or suggesting alternative methods for infrastructure implementation).

• Experience with system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning, along with AWS & CloudFormation expertise.

• Familiarity with Docker containerization and Git.
