
Principal Practice Leader – Air Quality

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +4 more states.
• Responsible for business development, project management, and serving as the technical lead for air quality initiatives focused on emissions quantification, carbon and climate change programs, environmental impact assessments, regulatory analysis, permitting, and compliance solutions.
• Ensure strong visibility within the marketplace through consistent client engagement, active participation in professional organizations, and by attending and presenting at industry-related events.
• Act as the technical authority on air quality issues, guiding regulatory analyses in accordance with the Clean Air Act, as well as state, local, and emerging GHG regulations and reporting programs.
• Offer consulting services for air permitting (including NSR, PSD, Title V, GHG, EPCRA, and state-level pre-construction and operating permits), alongside conducting air quality impact assessments involving dispersion modeling and health risk evaluation.
• Support the development and planning of both new and modified facilities, providing integrated consulting, environmental, design, and construction assistance for some of the largest projects in the U.S.
• Manage projects and teams, delivering technical leadership and oversight, risk management, and mentoring.
• Collaborate closely with teams across North America.
• Aid in the recruitment and training of new staff members.
• Uphold and promote the company culture and values throughout the organization.
• Operate personal, company, and rental vehicles to travel to client sites, project locations, and other business-related destinations as necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, biology, or a related discipline (required).
• An advanced degree in a related field is preferred.
• Professional registration (i.e., P.E. or P.G.) is required.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in energy infrastructure related to siting, permitting, and licensing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Proven experience managing permitting, planning, compliance, and environmental oversight for linear energy infrastructure projects (and associated fixed assets) is required.
• Demonstrated experience in overseeing the overall delivery of projects, encompassing project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management is required.
• Familiarity with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) certification process, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and state-specific local permitting requirements in the Appalachian Basin (including PA, OH, WV, NY, NJ, MD, VA, NC, SC) is required.
• Experience in conducting environmental site assessments for NEPA compliance is required.
• Extensive experience with FERC environmental regulations, including capital project development for natural gas pipelines under Section 7c, is required.
• Knowledge of federal permitting programs such as the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) 404 wetland permitting, US Fish & Wildlife Service or US National Marine Fisheries Sections 7 and 10 consultations, and the National Historic Preservation Act for Section 106 consultations is required.
• Certifications or additional training in erosion and sediment control inspection and wetlands delineation are preferred.
• Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers are preferred.
• A valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel are required.
