Principal Legal Analyst – Energy Terms and Risk

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Conduct research, analyze, and convey a diverse array of legal, commercial, and economic matters impacting the upstream oil and gas sector in Asia.

• Monitor and evaluate the effects of significant contractual, regulatory, and fiscal changes influencing the upstream industry.

• Interact with clients regarding these subjects through presentations and discussions.

• Maintain risk assessments and a variety of regulatory monitoring tools.

• Work collaboratively with other teams to develop integrated research, particularly focused on how energy transition developments are influencing the oil and gas sector in Asia.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in law is mandatory.

• Additional studies in energy policy, regulation, taxation, or a related field would be advantageous.

• At least 2 years of pertinent work experience in the upstream sector within Asia.

• Previous experience in producing high-caliber research and analyzing laws and contracts across various jurisdictions.

• Strong critical thinking skills with the capacity to utilize both qualitative and quantitative data.

• Exceptional writing and presentation abilities in English.

• Effective time management skills and a meticulous approach.

• Familiarity with the use of AI tools in a research setting would be a plus.

• Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

• Knowledge of energy transition trends is preferred.

• Must possess flexibility and the capability to work efficiently and collaboratively with colleagues of varying levels of experience and backgrounds across different global locations.
