This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.
• Assess, test, and verify the reliability and compatibility of Android-based tablets, payment pucks, cases, hubs, and peripherals with our software.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware issues such as over-voltage failures, charging difficulties, water ingress, WiFi performance problems, and peripheral connectivity challenges.
• Create and implement structured test plans for hardware components, accessories, and various environmental conditions.
• Identify the root causes of hardware malfunctions and suggest corrective actions, design enhancements, or alternative hardware solutions.
• Establish a systematic methodology for hardware evaluation, including test matrices, acceptance criteria, and repeatable validation procedures.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to ensure hardware decisions are aligned with product specifications and field realities.
• Evaluate and compare various hardware options (tablets, cases, hubs, peripherals) and provide recommendations based on data analysis.
• Develop documentation, runbooks, and evaluation frameworks to enhance hardware testing scalability and lessen dependency on external vendors.
• Assist field teams by analyzing real-world failure data and reproducing issues in controlled settings.
• Act as the internal expert on hardware reliability, electrical characteristics, and device-level performance.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of experience in testing, validating, or troubleshooting hardware devices.
• Comprehensive understanding of power systems, voltage behavior, charging circuits, and electrical failure modes.
• Proven experience in diagnosing connectivity issues (WiFi, Bluetooth, USB, serial, etc.).
• Capability to design and implement structured hardware test plans.
• Proficiency in working with Android-based devices and their hardware interfaces.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a hands-on investigative approach.
• Skill in translating ambiguous hardware symptoms into definitive engineering actions.
